Apoorv Om’s archive records an interaction with General Anil Chauhan at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff in New Delhi on 28 January 2026. During the meeting, he presented his artwork and, according to his account, received a CDS medal in appreciation of his work in art, inclusion and digital awareness.

The encounter brought an artist’s work into a national institutional setting. It is one part of a longer journey in which Apoorv uses visual expression to introduce his ideas and encourage conversations about accessible communication.

The original account of the meeting with General Anil Chauhan identifies the location, date and recognition. It describes the interaction taking place with Apoorv’s family present. The accompanying photographs show the artwork presentation and the medal.

In this historical record, General Anil Chauhan is identified as India’s Chief of Defence Staff. The account expresses Apoorv’s appreciation for the interaction and the recognition of his creative and social work. This article follows that personal account rather than presenting it as an independently issued military announcement.

Keeping the photographs alongside the original narrative gives readers a way to explore the occasion directly. The collection preserves several views of the meeting, including the presented artwork and the recognition that Apoorv described.

Art as a starting point for dialogue

Portraits and architectural subjects are recurring elements of Apoorv’s artistic practice. A work can connect a person with an institution, a building or a setting that carries meaning for its recipient. Its details create an opportunity to look closely and begin a conversation.

For a deaf artist, visual work also offers a form of expression that does not depend entirely on spoken exchange. That does not remove the need for accessible communication around a meeting or exhibition. It shows why creative contribution and communication access deserve attention together.

Apoorv’s artworks and architectural models place this presentation within a broader body of work. His honours collection records other encounters and recognitions, each with its own source account and photographs.

Making digital awareness practical

The meeting account connects the appreciation of art with inclusion and digital awareness. These themes also appear in Apoorv’s work introducing accessible communication to public-facing organisations.

Practical digital access can involve clear written information, accurate captions, visual alerts and usable online services. Different people need different arrangements, so institutions should ask about preferences and test whether the available options actually work in context.

Accessible content also benefits from careful presentation: descriptive links, readable layouts, keyboard operation and meaningful image descriptions. These decisions turn an intention to include people into something they can use during an everyday interaction.

Recognition and continuing opportunity

A public encounter can make creative work visible to new audiences. Its wider value grows when recognition is accompanied by opportunities to exhibit, learn, collaborate and contribute. Artists should be able to take part on the strength of their work, with suitable communication support available.

The HQ IDS story reflects the relationship between individual practice and that wider aim. Apoorv’s detailed achievements connect his artwork with speaking, training, yoga and community work across different settings.
